The newest version of Google’s Android 4.4, known as Kitkat, enhances searching with added features; reading can be done on a full screen, and payments for NFC.

On October 31st Google released their brand new version of their mobile software. It is called Android 4.4 Kitkat that features an intelligent search and much more.

Android’s performance has been improved with Google’s Android 4.4 Kitkat, new services and features have been added, and new integrated software is in place for supporting any potential and innovative brand new users.

Confectionery naming scheme is continued with Android 4.4

Ever since the inception, Google has combined a numeric value that increases, such as Android 4.4, and paired it with a famous confectionery.

It all started with the Android 1.5 Cupcake and has continued with the following:

  • Android 1.6 Donut
  • Android 2.0 Éclair
  • Android 2.2 Froyo
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

It was said that Jelly Bean was going to be followed with Key Lime Pie, until a sweet deal was struck with Nestle for using their candy bar name Kitkat.

Google Now Always Listening

Google Now is a listening feature that will be ready to help out any user once they simply say OK Google! There will be no separate app required for conducting searches. It can now be done right on the home screen. Just say OK Google and the feature is alerted the user is ready to talk while it listens for the question.

Full Screen

The Android 4.4 Kitkat is sharing a much nicer experience for the users that are using apps or even doing e-book reading or web browsing. Instead of the black bars across the screen that are taking up space, they will now be transparent. This means more of the screen is going to show on the device. Whenever an app is told to go full screen the menu bar on the bottom is going to disappear.

When in full screen mode it will only take the user to drag their finger from the bottom up or top to the bottom and the menu bars will pop up.
